  • Description text goes hereStretch therapy involves the practice of assisted stretching.  It is delivered on a massage table with a trained therapist. The therapist will move your body for you into postures that stretch specific muscles and tissues surrounding the joints. To increase comfort level and effectiveness bolsters, pillows, and straps may be used.  With this assisted stretching, the work is done for you. ZenSira’s various techniques creates a full body three-dimensional experience aimed to improve flexibility, increasing mobility, relieving muscle tension, and relaxing the nervous system. Perfect for those who are uncomfortable with massages.

  • Also known as Thai Yoga massage or as Dr. Sara likes to call it “The lazy person’s yoga”  is a full body massage that combines yoga, acupressure, and shiatsu (pressure on acupuncture points) techniques. Thai massage is delivered on a mat placed on the floor while the therapist moves and manipulates your body by incorporating yogic stretching movements as they knead and press muscles along the body. This type of passive stretching helps to improve flexibility, increasing mobility, relieving muscle tension, and relaxing the nervous system.

The main benefits of Thai massage are:

    • Improved flexibility and range of muscle movement through assisted stretching

    • Blood flow is increased, and circulation assisted

    • Release of physical tension to relieve aches and pains

    • Release of emotional tension held within the body, combating stress and providing a feeling of relaxation

In addition to these benefits, like all massage, the stimulation of the nerves and skin cells can improve skin quality and muscular function, and contribute to an overall sense of well-being.

How do I prepare for my session?

Hydrate: Drink water before and after the massage. Avoid drinking too much, as this can overwork your bladder and digestive tract.

Eat light: Avoid eating a big meal before your massage, or eat something light like fresh fruit.

Wear comfortable clothing: Thai massage involves stretching and movement, so wear loose, flexible clothing that allows for ease of movement.

  • Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine that involves creating suction on the skin's surface using glass, silicon, or plastic cups. Suction from the cupping stimulates the flow of blood and Qi (energy) within the superficial layers of the body. There are various ways to cup. Most popular is the use of fire to create a warming suction effect. Other versions of cupping uses a rubber pump instead of fire to create the vacuum inside the cup. Sometimes therapists use silicone cups, which they can move from place to place on your skin for massage like effect.

Cupping It is often used to address various conditions such as pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, and well-being. It may help improve blood flow, boost immune function, remove toxins, and reduce pain.

  • Facial cupping, (or cupping of any kind) is a centuries-old practice that involves using suction cups on different areas of the face to gently list and stretch the tissue under the skin. The suctioning itself is meant to stimulate the flow of blood and Qi (energy) within the superficial layers of the body. Facial cupping, specifically, uses this technique on the face to gently lift and stretch the facial tissue. It is believed to have both cosmetic and therapeutic benefits including:

    1. Increased Blood Circulation:  Facial cupping is believed to stimulate blood flow, promoting the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the skin. Improved circulation may lead to a healthier and more vibrant complexion.

    2. Strengthened Skin and Connective Tissues:  The suction created by the cups is thought to strengthen the skin and the underlying connective tissues, potentially enhancing the skin's elasticity and resilience.

    3. Collagen Production Stimulation:  Facial cupping is thought to stimulate cells responsible for collagen production. Collagen is a protein that helps maintain the skin's firmness and elasticity.

     4. Muscle Relaxation:  The gentle massage-like action of facial cupping may help relax muscle tension, which can contribute to a more relaxed and youthful appearance.

    5. Reducing the Appearance of Scars, Fine Lines, and Wrinkles

    6. Toning the Chin, Jawline, Neck, and Décolletage:  Cupping can be applied to different areas of the face and neck to promote firmness and tone.

    7. Decreasing Puffiness:  By encouraging lymphatic drainage and reducing fluid retention, facial cupping may help reduce puffiness and swelling in the face.

    8. Regulating Oil Production: Facial cupping may help balance oil production in the skin, potentially benefiting those with oily or combination skin.

  • IASTM, gua sha, or muscle scraping is a manual therapy technique used to accelerate the healing of injured soft tissues including muscles, ligaments, and fascia. It involves the use of a massage tool in a scraping motion.

Muscle scraping therapy has gained popularity among athletes due to its rehabilitative effectiveness. Muscle scraping has a range of benefits including:

    1. Improved Range of Motion: Muscle scraping can help break down adhesions, scar tissue, and muscle knots that may limit range of motion.

    2. Enhanced Muscle Recruitment: Due to injury or overuse, one may experience issues with muscle recruitment, where certain muscles are not functioning optimally or are inhibited. Muscle scraping can stimulate these muscles, helping to restore proper muscle function.

    3. Management of Scar Tissue: Injuries, surgeries, or repetitive strain are prone to creating scar tissue producing a physical barrier to natural movement and can cause discomfort.  Muscle scraping can target and address this scar tissue, potentially reducing pain and dysfunction associated with it.

    4. Pain Reduction: Muscle scraping is believed to reduce pain and discomfort associated with soft tissue injuries, muscle tightness, and trigger points. This is especially beneficial for anyone recovering from injuries or dealing with chronic pain.

    5. Recovery and Injury Prevention: By incorporating muscle scraping into your recovery routines, you can enhance faster recovery after various activities such as working out, playing sports, and injuries. It can also be used as a preventive measure to reduce the risk of future injuries.
